French company Futura Games in 1989 released their first game that introduced 3D graphics, M4 Sherman. The graphics were rather poor - very simple vector objects and far too simple physics. Missions were almost identical although some of them took place in Africa, some of them in Europe. A year later they have published Advanced Destroyer Simulator, again simple simulator, this time putting the player in charge of Royal Navy destroyer. The graphics were again rather simple, but improved comparing to M4 Sherman. But the missions and the options available were far better.

First of all we can choose between Mediterranean Sea, English Channel and Northern Atlantic and it actually makes the difference. In each area we have various missions to choose from and we will face different opponents - from enemy cruisers, destroyers to fighters and merchant ships. But since we are in charge of destroyer we of course also hunt the enemy submarines. We have basic radar, sonar, guns, torpedo tubes and depth charges - everything we need to face the enemy. Apart from the offensive equipment we also have to take care of the damage we can sustain during the battle - from damaged rudder to leaks.

Simple World War 2 destroyer simulator that offers enough options to keep the players happy for long time plus wide range of missions and enemies. Of course the word "advanced" in the title is a bit much, but for 1990 this game was a big deal with 3D graphics and a chance to operate many parts of the ship.
