The most powerful German tank used on large scale during World War 2 - Panzerkampfwagen VI Tiger had great armor (up to 120 mm) and the best main gun of its times 88 mm KwK 36 L/56, which made the Tiger also the most deadly of German tanks. As it was proved during the Eastern Front campaign and after landing in Normandy most popular tanks of Allies (T-34 and Sherman) were usually not able to break through the armor even on short range while Tigers could easily destroy them from over 1 km distance. But just like Panther the biggest problem of the Tiger was his contruction - expensive and complicated, which meant that damaged Tiger could not be fixed in the battlefield and Germans were unable to produce enough of those tanks to meet the demend.

One of the famous German commander put it best, when he described Tiger as far better than anything in Europe: "we were able to destroy even 15 Allied tanks with single Tiger, but Allies then sent the 16th and 17th tank..."
