Game set during World War 2, in which player takes part as Soviet Union sniper infiltrating the enemy territory to accomplish various missions that will require sniper skills. First we are placed somewhere in Eastern Europe, where using sniper rifle, silenced pistol and a knife (that never gets useful) we have to sneak past Germans to help the resistance in operations behind enemy lines. Of course "sneak" is rather optimistic word - most of the time it is impossible to sneak unnoticed even if you lie down in the grass. Usually you have to shoot guards from safe distance and move further. Second part of the missions take part in the desert and Italy (although it’s hard to guess what Soviet sniper would wander so far south during World War 2).

The missions targets are different (from blowing up the anti-aircraft guns to covering the movement of convoy), sceneries are different, but in most of the missions very limited (f.e. by steep hills, barbed wire or walls). Another weak point is the ammo - very limited and in most of the missions there are no way to resupply ammo. When it comes to sniper rifle, it’s usually not that big problem since there are not many enemies, but it’s different story with machine gun - you can pick up machine gun from enemy, but usually it has only few bullets. If you think you would resupply from other guns you will find there’s a nasty surprise for you - you can only pick up a gun and at the same time drop the one you already had, so at best you will have a machine gun with 10-15 bullets in it.

The game, created by Polish company City Interactive (which later published Sniper: Ghost Warrior games), is based on simple engine, it is buggy (sometimes the bullets don’t reach the target without any reason), the scenery creates a lot of limitations to player, the enemy AI is far too simple, but overall it is simple game that will give user few hours of fun.
