1970s war movies
In 1970s many aspects of the modern cinema have changed and the war movies were not an exception - the great film studios lost their position for independent producers. Vietnam War has affected the production of war movies - the army wasn’t interested in showing the current conflict, didn’t have the equipment to send for movies production, so in 1970s there were not many American war movies produced. But at the same time 4 superproductions about World War 2 were filmed (like Midway, Tora! Tora! Tora!, Patton and A Bridge Too Far). Few western-like war movies based on popular fiction were also filmed (f.e. Force 10 from Navarone, Kelly’s Heroes, Escape to Athena).
