Battle unusual for medieval times - it lasted 2 days, comparing to usual couple of hours. Stirling Castle, Scottish stronghold, occupied by English, was under siege from Scots. King Edward II arrived with between army of 15,000 and 25,000 men to break the siege. The Scottish army was only about 5,000 - 10,000, which seemed not enough to stop Edward II, but English had to attack through the Bannockburn stream. Nearby woods and swamps made it difficult for English to use the full power of their army, during first day the cavalry attacked Scots, but were unable to break through their lines. On second day Scottish knight, Alexander Seton, fighting for English have left the Edward II camps and told Robert Bruce, commander of Scots, about the morale problems among the English. Bruce decided to attack, which caused confusion among enemies. English tried to counter-attack, but due to chaotic way they charged Scots managed not only to repel them, but also force English to retreat.

William Wallace, the hero of Scotland, challenges the king of England in fight for freedom of his countrymen.
