Srebrenica massacre 11 July 1995

The killing of over 8000 Bosnian Muslims, mainly men and boys, in and around the town of Srebrenica during the Bosnian War (part of the Yugoslav War in 1990s). The killing was perpetrated by units of the Army of Republika Srpska (VRS) under the command of General Ratko Mladic. Amongst the Serbian forces also were foreign volunteers fighting in paramilitary forces. Ratko Mladic was arrested in 2011 to face war crimes tribunal in Hague. In April 2013 Serbian President Tomislav Nikolic officially apologised for the massacre, although he did not called it genocide (as it is considered by international organizations).
