During the Three Kingdoms period when China Empire was split into 3 countries that constantly fought with each other reigning emperor of China sent one of his warlords Cao Cao to destroy two leaders that have rebelled against the central power. Despite the huge advantage in number of soldiers (about 5 to 1, but could be as high as 10 to 1 or 15 to 1) Cao Cao failed to achieve his goal. First part of the battle was skirmish at Red Cliffs and the fights around the Wulin town, but the decisive part was the naval battle on the Yangtze River, during which Cao Cao’s fleet of boats was set aflame by the allied forces. He was forced to retreat and give up the plan of invading lands south of the river, but during his retreat his forces were under constant attacks.
