After four weeks of moving back and back the soldiers were losing their morale, but soon it changed when Santa Anna, convinced that Houston is cornered, decided to split his forces. Houston engaged the Mexicans near the San Jacinto River and with quick assault wiped out half of the enemies and captured the other half while losing only 9 men.
