Battle of Vienna 14 July 1683

Siege of Vienna by the Ottoman Empire army, under command of Kara Mustafa Pasha, lasted for 2 months - over 100.000 Ottoman forces were bombarding the walls of Vienna defended by only about 10.000 Habsburg soldiers. At the beginning of September Allies of Habsburg Austria in the Holy League have arrived with the relief force. 50.000 Germans and almost 40.000 Polish forces (including over 20.000 of famous Polish Hussars) with Polish King Jan III Sobieski have used the flanking tactics to almost completely wipe-out the Ottoman army. The survivors, including Kara Mustafa Pasha, had to retreat from Vienna and never again Ottoman Empire was so close to win in that war.
