British tankmen join the operations in Europe after the Normandy landing.
Story of Welsh Guards tank regiment since the formation soon after the beginning of the war and when they join the fights after the landing in Normandy. We see the British tankmen as they learn the basics of the army life until they finally meet the enemy in France.
As it was said at the beginning of the movie it shows just small piece of the World War II seen through eyes of the small unit and don’t aspire to be representative for the whole conflict. And to be honest the whole film is just a set of short or very short stories or anecdotes about the army life during the war. Often the stories aren’t even properly linked between each other and parts of the movie are filled with documentary pieces.
Overall the film presents less exposed part of British army fights during the World War 2 - the struggle through Belgium and Holland after the breakout from beaches of Normandy, but it is made with not enough effort to make a good movie. The story is full of holes, characters hard to distinct from each other, the very rare actual battle scenes are good, but not good enough to make the difference.
