Story of Walter Süskind, who saved over 600 children from being sent to concentration camps during World War 2.
German-born Jew Walter Süskind is determined to save his wife and daughter when Germans occupy Amsterdam during World War 2. He tries to use his German descent to gain some advantage and becomes member of Judenrat (Jewish council) believing that he saves the Jews that are being sent to camps. Together with others they set up a scheme to save at least children from being sent to concentration camps in Germany, but suddenly his own family is in danger.
Tensed and gripping story based on a life of Walter Süskind, who helped save over 600 Jewish children during the German occupation. Despite not being typical war movie it is very powerful story of desperation of Jews, sacrifice of people who tried to save the others from Holocaust and bestiality of not only Germans, but also Dutch citizen who were helping the occupants in tracking down Jews.
