Team of Russian snipers is put to a test when they chase the secrets of German V-2 rockets.
Group of Soviet snipers lead by Yashin prepare for the battle in the city of Stalingrad - they have to stop the advance of German army. In the group of nine snipers there is one woman - Belarussian Alesa. Three years later Soviet army is pushing towards Berlin and Yashin is appointed to guard a scientist and his girlfriend that are looking for the parts of V-2 rockets that are stored somewhere near the deserted castle. But it turns out that the castle isn’t actually deserted - the V-2 parts are guarded by group of German snipers.
In the flashbacks we see the two stories from Yashin’s perspective - fights in Stalingrad and events that take place in and around the castle. We see why Alesa was important in that story and how Yashin meets again a German sniper that he already met in Stalingrad.
As for Russian war movies this title is a little unusual - the plot is split into two stories that are told simultaneously. Also the creators have avoided the often mistake of Russian movies and balanced well the personal problems of the characters and the war itself. It is somewhat similiar to Enemy at the Gates, unfortunately not as good as Enemy at the Gates, but as for Russian production surprisingly good.
