Once upon a time there was a German soldier, Ludwig Herckel, he had some thoughts that were not very interesting. Years later there was inexperienced director, who had a camera and no script...
Once upon a time there was a German soldier, Ludwig Herckel, he was serving in a unit called 1st SS Panzer Division Leibstandarte, he went to some places, from Kursk to Normandy, he met some people, he took part in some fights...
I realize it does not sound like a proper review, but My Honor Was Loyalty is not actually a proper movie. On a first glance it is clear that it was filmed using very small budget (if there was any), it was made using simple technology (even camcorders in some scenes I guess), the director used the amateur actors and re-enactment groups with their own wardrobe and equipment (all in perfect state), but I could just easily overlook those flaws if the story was at least interesting. Unfortunately My Honor Was Loyalty doesn’t really have one. I guess the whole plan was just "let’s put on the uniforms and wander around the woods with sad faces, we’ll come up with some story afterwards", but the result is just awful. Not only the movie looks bad, the CGI is poor quality, the dialogues are tedious and painful to watch, but the biggest problem is that the whole time it is hard to guess what the author was thinking while writing the script, because there is no plot, no clear message, no character building, no nothing. My Honor Was Loyalty is one of the worst war movies ever made.
