American submarine is sent on a patrol mission to spot Japanese fleet heading for Coral Sea.
After the fall of Corregidor Americans expect Japanese attack on Coral Sea towards New Guinea. Commander Conway receives the orders to take his sumbarine on a reconnaisance mission and try to find Japanese navy that is heading to Coral Sea. During the patrol the submarine is heavily damaged and Conway decides to surrender. He and his men are sent to prisoners of war camp where Japanese intelligence officers are keen to get informations out of them.
This film is famous for the most misleading title in history of war movies, because in a film called Battle of the Coral Sea the only thing missing is... the battle of the Coral Sea itself (apart from short set of documentary clips at the end). The script was interesting, but with such low realism and adventure factors it is just one of many mediocre war movies made in 1950s and 1960s.
