Polish tankette built on British license was the main armored force that Poland could use against German invasion in 1939. Despite light armor and guns that often proved to be inadequate on modern battlefield Polish tankers managed to put quite successful fight against Panzerkampfwagen I and Panzerkampfwagen II that had thin armors, but only in ambushes where the element of surprise gave them the upper hand. Against Soviet forces that invaded from the east in September 1939 the tankettes were helpless while facing T-26 or T-28 tanks. The TKS version was armed with anti-tank gun with slightly improved armor, engine and suspension, but by September 1939 only about 300 were available for use and thus they did not pay important part in Polish defence.
