First-person shooter video game set during World War 2, Call of Duty differed from its competitor Medal of Honor by using few parallel "campaigns" - player was taking part in missions with American, British and Russian army throughout the war. The second difference was that player was taking part in larger scale battles than in Medal of Honor.

American campaign starts during the D-Day - 506th Parachute Infantry Regiment is dropped in Normandy to take over stategic targets before landings of Allied troops. Later we move further through Normandy with Allied offensive, rescue British prisoner in Alps and take part in Battle of the Bulge.

British campaign starts also in Normandy with the attack on Pegasus Bridge near Caen, later we are sent with special mission to destroy dams in Ruhr Valley. Later we join Captain Price on his covert mission aboard German battleship Tirpitz, that we have to sink using explosives. Last mission is attack on the V-2 rockets launching base.

Russian campaign takes place during Battle of Stalingrad, where we are placed among the frightened young soldiers used as cannon fodder in hopeless attacks on German lines. Later we move with the Red Army through Poland on the way to attack Berlin. The last battle is attack on Reichstag building.

Game was huge hit on premiere and still remains classic - due to use of different nationalities and different locations the game was hard to get bored with, not to mention the battles themselves were interesting enough to keep the players busy for a long time.
