English Civil War was series of conflicts between the English Parliament and King Charles I. The basis for the conflict was the way Charles I saw his role as a king - as divine given power to decide over the land and laws, while Parliament was trying to introduce the constitutional monarchy. After 11 years of personal rule of Charles I, during which period he did not called a Parliament, the finances of monarchy were in poor condition and king was unable to raise revenue without Parliament, so when the Scotland was again rebelling against the crown he called the Parliament again in 1640, demanding funds for the army.
